Yeah, welcome to my Hell. I'm lousy at "selling" myself as well. Which is why Hector's getting published, Josh is nominated for Eisners, while you and I keep this silly website going, hoping one of their fans will notice our stupid shit too!!!
How often do you guys (travis and dan) send out submissions, and what kind of responses do you guys get back?
The last couple of years I've gone to San Diego for Comicon, I've handed out my mini comics, shook hands with editors, even had comic book editors introduce me to other comic book editors telling them they should check out my stuff...but I just haven't made a dent yet. There's a handful of editors of various publishers that I'm somewhat "friends" with, in that I send them my books every year and they respond to "keep it up," but none of them want to take the chance on giving me a book of my own.The industry is really focused around turning graphic novels into screenplays at the moment...quirky comics about our boring ass lives don't really sell well. But in all honesty, I haven't busted my ass trying to put together a REAL effort, laying out exactly what kind of book I'd want to publish, (A cross between Dork and a funnier collection of Optic Nerve-type of short stories) so I really have no one to blame but myself.Daniel's problem is that he just flat out sucks though. :P
